The exhibition, titled “Blurring the Lines Between Physical and Digital Fashion”, highlights our students' innovative approach to merging fashion with the latest in digital technology. This is an amazing achievement for our community and an inspiring step forward in the world of fashion education.

The Commonwealth Fashion Council and Caramel Rock are proud to recognize the exceptional work of participants in this year’s Commonwealth Fashion Council competition.

Adam Parry Davies

His dedication to nature and flowers, particularly violets, is evident in the intricate patterns he creates from his drawings. Adam’s artistic vision and commitment to sustainability shine through in his beautiful and thoughtful designs.

Helen, through her participation, has significantly enhanced her skills and learned valuable new concepts.

Jasmine Norton Hayes

Jasmine’s focus on two mind maps—one on organizational skills and the other on the theme of movement—demonstrates her commitment to both personal and creative growth. Through the creation of a movement moodboard and mind map, Jasmine exercised her creativity.

Jasmine’s journey reflects her resilience and determination to excel  in the fashion industry, embodying the spirit of innovation and learning. 

Parwinder Kaur

In Unit AD5, Parwinder undertook the task of creating print artwork for Liberty London’s accessories collection, where she explored a variety of techniques to bring her designs to life. 

Parwinder’s design journey included creating collages, drawing designs, draping on the stand, experimenting with fabric manipulation, and making a toile of her final design. Despite finding the process stressful at times, she paid close attention to detail and delivered a well-crafted final piece. Her approach evolved through continuous experimentation and learning, resulting in a final print design inspired by Liberty’s I Dreamt of Roses.

Parwinder’s dedication to refining her design process step by step led to a final product that reflects her growth as an artist. Her journey in Unit AD5 highlights her resilience, creativity, and commitment to producing artful and thoughtful designs. 

Reema Alghizzi

Reema’s project focused on the renowned brand Liberty London, where she delved into its rich history and design philosophy to create an original floral print pattern, which she ultimately applied to a final product—a beautifully crafted bag.

Reema’s journey began with extensive research into Liberty London, studying its iconic patterns and design elements. Inspired by her findings, she embarked on creating her own floral print. Initially, Reema sketched her pattern by hand, experimenting with various compositions and color schemes. Her design process involved meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that her print would align with Liberty London’s esteemed aesthetic.

Reema transformed her physical pattern into a digital masterpiece, experimenting with different digital tools and techniques to enhance the floral elements. By blending hand-drawn methods with digital technologies, Reema created a seamless and sophisticated floral pattern.  

Ayesha Nawaz

As a student enrolled in the BTEC Level 2 Certificate, Ayesha addressed the critical issue of forced marriage, particularly in countries like her own, Pakistan. Her powerful designs and thoughtful approach highlight the importance of stopping this practice.

Ian Mikardo School

Brandon and Kanye from Ian Mikardo School have made notable strides in the field of shoe design. Their work focuses on designing unique pairs of trainers and experimenting with various patterns, which they have tested using 3D tools.

Brandon and Kanye’s use of 3D technology demonstrates their technical skills and ability to integrate modern tools into the fashion industry. 

Leo Reeves

Throughout Unit AD8, Leo embarked on a journey of exploration and innovation in garment design, beginning with a drape inspired by designer Craig Green’s Fall 2020 collection.

The unit involved a comprehensive process of researching, generating ideas, creating collages, drawing designs, draping, experimenting with fabric manipulation, and producing a toile of the final garment. 

Innovating Garment Design Through Creative Draping.

Leo recognized that brainstorming ideas through draping on the mannequin was a highly effective technique for him. Considering it was his first time integrating all learned elements into a complete final toile, he viewed this experience as a solid starting point

Rafiat Mojirade

Rafiat’s project involved creating floral print patterns using a combination of stencils and potato block printing, showcasing her innovative approach and creative skillset.

Rafiat’s dedication to perfecting her craft is evident in her final collection of floral prints, which reflect her ability to blend different methods into cohesive and visually appealing designs. 

Sylvia Luka

Sylvia’s project not only explored the dynamic concept
of movement but also significantly improved her organizational skills through the use of mind maps and mood boards.

Sylvia began her project by creating a mind map, which served as a crucial tool in organizing her thoughts and ideas. This approach helped her break down the concept of movement into manageable segments, allowing her to focus on specific aspects such as direction, flow, and rhythm.

Organization and Creativity Through the Theme of Movement

Sylvia Luka’s work on the theme of “Movement” demonstrates her potential and commitment to the fashion industry. Her innovative use of organizational tools, combined with her creative exploration of movement, has resulted in a project that showcases her talent and dedication. 

Zachtchi Brent Rebollos

His project, inspired by Craig Green’s designs, provided Zachtchi with an invaluable learning experience that further developed his skills and deepened his understanding of garment construction.

Zachtchi described his journey as being divided into two distinct phases: development and construction. During the development phase, including research, creating collages, and developing moodboards, Zachtchi felt confident and efficient. His prior experience had equipped him with effective methods and a steady pace, making this stage of the project smooth and enjoyable.

Mastering Garment Construction and Embracing Mistakes

Zachtchi’s dedication to mastering garment construction was evident as he trained  his mind to handle multiple panels and refined his approach to sewing. Although the process was challenging, he appreciated the insights gained from his mistakes.
