Caramel Rock joined the Act-1 Programme to deliver after school workshops to young people in the Newham, Canning Town, Plaistow area.
At this workshop, young people got a chance to take part, and the learn the crucial process from having an idea to creating a final garment. They had the opportunity to learn design development, how to make a t-shirt, pattern cutting, upcycling, and sewing with the goals of making a final garment.
Act-1 was designed to be inclusive of all young people under the age of 25 into training and facilitates work placements for them. It is a partnership between Fight For Peace, Newham Council, Exit foundation, AAA, Rein and Caramel Rock has joined the partnership.
Inbuilt leadership training programme, facilitated by volunteers, has built participants’ resilience and helped them to feel secure and capable of securing work opportunities within Newham. This project also contributes to Steps Newham’s 50 steps programme. At Caramel Rock we will be accepting young people into our programme in order to facilitate education and training in Fashion Art & Design.
